More recently, I have watched myself be a good source of encouragement to the few persons I have interacted with including colleagues at work.
Just before you think I do this all the time,
See, behind the closet door are some scattered piles of issues that if you come as close as to turn the knob a bit, you will have me spilling like a cockatoo. These are just the facts not the truth, what God is doing behind is my reality.
But, just yesterday while I made my way home from work, i remembered the CHARGE FOR 2019, as said by the senior Pastor of the assembly where I fellowship and serve,
“We are appointed and destined to serve each one of us as a David, an infuser of courage to those who no longer have strength. As an Elisha, a reverser of curse upon the land. This is your charge for 2019” Pastor Afolabi Oladele.
With this memory, I began to understand what I caught myself doing and what the days following would look like for me.
Let me tell you a story…
Just about a year ago, I went hiking on Wuye Hill in Abuja. My friends who are lovers of Jesus and drawn together by our love for reading Christian books; Blessing Ukpabi, Ene, Sarai Angai and Akachukwu.
From the bottom of that mountain, we all thought it was going to be a dash until we exhausted the strides on our feet at a time we were not half way through the mountain. At intervals, we had recess that were punctuated by the ‘uhs!’ and ‘ahs!’ ‘let’s stop here’ ‘let’s give it one more try’ ‘I’m tired” amid weak laughter.
As we encouraged one another, supported one another, allowed the other lean on our already drooping shoulders, we motivated one another to get to the top of that mountain.
Finally each of us got there in one piece.
This was not all we had….
Sharing from our wells of sweet encounters with Christ and our dealing with Him, we had reasons to trust and believe more in God. Our zeal was fired up and finally we climbed down feeling fueled to face life.
This is what it means to be an infuser of courage.
Please remember that behind the stiletto shoes, Gucci bags, braided wigs attached firmly on a head, and all, the borders of our nation is yet to be opened and rice is still sold for 25k…… be an infuser of hope.
Be a shoulder for those whose shoulders are beginning to hunch.
Listen to the said and unsaid words and infuse hope where there is gloom.
If you cannot speak words of hope….. You do not have to say anything.
If you are not in the company of people who can encourage you with their words, please find another.
Col 4:6(MSG)
“6 Be gracious in your speech. The goal is to bring out the best in others in a conversation, not put them down, not cut them out.”
Above all, ensure you find the Prince of Peace, the One who said,
John 14:27
“27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
Blessings.
